The Waiting Season: Trusting God's Timing in the Face of Frustration
As Christians, we often find ourselves in waiting seasons—those times when our prayers seem unanswered, our efforts appear to go unnoticed, and our dreams feel out of reach. It's in these moments that we wrestle with doubt, frustration, and impatience. I find myself in one of those seasons right now. My job feels unsatisfying, my business isn't growing as I'd hoped, and the dream of owning a home feels like it might never become a reality. In my heart, I know God has a plan, but I struggle with the waiting.
Waiting is never easy. We live in a world that thrives on immediacy, where success is often measured by how quickly we achieve our goals. Yet, the Bible tells us time and time again that God's timing is not our own. In the book of Isaiah, God reminds us that “as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:9). This verse brings us back to the truth that God's timing, though sometimes mysterious, is always perfect.
In this waiting season, I've been tempted to take shortcuts. It's so easy to want to rush the process and find a way around the obstacles, especially when it feels like nothing is moving forward. But I've learned that shortcuts often leave us disappointed. They rob us of the deeper work God is doing within us during these moments of waiting. Shortcuts may offer a temporary solution, but they can't bring the lasting fulfillment and growth that God has in store for us when we trust in His timing.
The waiting season is not wasted. It is a time of preparation, growth, and refining. God often uses these periods to build our character, strengthen our faith, and deepen our trust in Him. Even though I feel frustrated and impatient, I am reminded that God's promises are worth the wait. He knows my desires and dreams, and He is preparing the perfect time for them to come to fruition.
If you're in a waiting season too, know that you're not alone. God's promises are still true, even in the waiting. Take heart in knowing that His delays are not denials, and His timing is always for our good. Let’s continue to trust in Him, even when it’s hard, and know that what He has in store will far exceed our expectations.
