Fitting God in Your Life When It’s Convenient

Many of us have experienced being caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, juggling various responsibilities like work, school, and family, that we inadvertently forget to devote time to prayer, reading the Bible, or having personal moments with God. Occasionally, days turn into weeks and even months without actively communicating with Him. Often, it takes a difficult situation or a rough patch in life for us to realize our need for His presence and guidance.

In my personal experience, I often found myself fitting God into my life whenever it was convenient. I would attend to my daily tasks, such as work, errands, cooking, and cleaning, and if there was any time left at the end of the day, I would pray, read my Bible, and spend a moment with God. This pattern is relatable to many of us. We tend to prioritize everything else and make room for God where He fits in, rather than giving Him the primary place in our lives.

It’s important that we acknowledge the significance of developing a relationship with God.  Our connection with Him brings purpose, meaning, and a sense of peace to our lives. It provides guidance, comfort during challenging times, and the strength to overcome obstacles. Rather than looking at spending time with God as an obligation or burden, it is helpful to reframe our mindset and approach it with a sense of enthusiasm and anticipation. When we understand the value that a relationship with God can bring, we are more motivated to prioritize Him, even when it’s not convenient.

I believe creating sacred spaces and moments in our daily routines can help us stay connected with God. Whether it’s setting aside time in the morning for prayer, creating a peaceful corner in our homes for reflection, or finding comfort in nature, these intentional acts allow us to focus our attention on our relationship with God.  By intentionally creating these sacred spaces and moments, we invite God into our lives and grow in our relationship with Him. I know for me when I started waking up an hour earlier and spending time with God in prayer, devotions, and reading my bible, I noticed how much stronger my relationship with Him was and how my faith also grew. I also realized how much more peaceful I felt throughout the day.

One of the most effective ways to fit God into our lives is by integrating our faith into our everyday activities. Rather than separating our faith, we can strive to see God in all aspects of our lives. This means bringing a sense of mindfulness and gratitude to even the most mundane tasks. Whether it’s offering a silent prayer while preparing a meal or finding opportunities to be kind and compassionate to others, these small acts can help us align our lives with our spiritual beliefs.

Being part of a faith community can provide invaluable support and encouragement in our spiritual journey. Connecting with others who share our beliefs can help us stay accountable and motivated to prioritize our relationship with God. Engaging in worship, attending religious gatherings, or joining study groups can foster a sense of belonging and deepen our understanding of our faith.

Fitting God into our lives when it’s convenient may seem like an appealing option in our fast-paced world. However, by recognizing the significance of a relationship with God and intentionally making space for Him, we can experience a profound transformation in our lives. Integrating our faith in our routines, seeking sacred moments, and finding community support can help us grow spiritually, bringing peace, purpose, and fulfillment into our lives. Remember, it is not about convenience, but about the eternal connection we foster when we invite God to walk with us each day.
